To a point you get what you pay for.

Classically your looking at an Intel i5/7 with an Nvidia 5xx (by budget), the sound card may not be needed depending on what your mobo offers but the Asus Xonar is a popular choice. Dont dismiss the AMD CPU and GPU option out of hand though, it may be a notch below on the benchmarks but certainly offers comparable results for the price.

You also need to consider RAM, Drive(s) and power supply.

Are you planning on over clocking? This will influence CPU, Mobo,RAM and PSU selection dramaticaly

    Core i5 2500k £150
    Asus z68 mobo £100ish
    AMD HD6950 2gb £200
    8gb corsair vengence ram £75
    Corsair 650w psu £100

Could save money on ram and go for lower speed 1333mhz ram at about £15 per 2gb

Youll play skyrim maxed out at 1080p with frames to spare! Same system as me, bar I have an SSD. Will play any game you throw at it without any hastle, even BF3 gets 50-70fps all maxed out.

And 3d modeling will work a charm. Just remember the more ram the better for that job

Best bet is to order stuff from ebuyer! I love them, and its order up to 11pm for next day delivery lol as I'm impatient.

And I have my hooked up to my AV reciever home cinema system via optical cable! I'd hope it sounded good lol as it cost more than the pc just for the speakers!! worth it though!
