    9800 GT problem

Hey Guys I recently bought a 9800GT. Since I have had it I have had problems with windows 7. When I have the standard windows drivers installed for it, it seems fine but I get random black screens and then error messages stating something to do with a kernal error.

When I have the latest drivers installed I get constant mouse pausing and stuttering and my pc randomly crashes. I cant play any games in either situation.

    My Pc specs are:

    Windows 7 Build 7100
    Q 6600
    4 Gig ram
    9800 GT
    EP45-DS3L mobo
    600W PSU

Please help this problem is getting so annoying

    Hey got
    Welcome to sevenforums.

We could use a couple of things abt your system. 32 bit or 64? does your video driver show correctly in device manager (type device manager in search), wa it a clean install or upgrade.

    Waiting for info

    Hey Ken,

Its a 64 Bit system, the video card does show correctly in the device manager and it was a clean installation.

    Thanks :)

Ok so its not the vid driver you have enough memory, its a clean install. does this happen most in games? does it happen in apps? how big is your page file?

The problem gets worse when I actually install the proper drivers for it. I cant play games my system crashes 9/10 times I try too...mainly when i try to watch video the screen goes orange and then crashes and I get the kernal error messages...pretty much anything to do with video.

I have tried my 9800 in another PC and I dont get any issues. Whats a page file?

Its defiantly something to do with the graphics card..when its un-installed the pc works fine...

Would it be worth installing a newer version of windows 7 or even trying Vista?

My 9800GT is working issue-free for me under Windows 7 x64 RTM. I don't know why this series of cards are troublesome for some users, but I know you're not alone. I'm just happy mine isn't being funky.

I recommend finding out if your MB manufacturer has an updated bios for Winy7 x64. I had some issues with Nvidia bios P06 and P07. Contacted XFX about a new bios update and they sent me 721NP08A.

Also had some issues with Nvidia video driver 187.50 so I backed out to 182.50 which works well. I recently updated to 190.38 and gained 10% improvement in both gaming and Aero graphics from 6.0 to 6.6.

My system has been rock steady with these drivers.
