Odd video glitch.

It seems to have something to do with the driver release for the 7000 series + Win 7. I'm assuming no one running Vista ran into this issue or else I would have found something similar in digging for posts.

Anyway, I downloaded driver sweeper and from safemode ran it and got rid of my Nvidia drivers, rebooted with basic video support.

No problems aside from a lack of 3d acceleration even with GPU fan running. Installed the drivers. BAM, video bugged out when GPU fan kicked on.

Bump your voltage up on notch on the PCIe.

Haven't had a chance to do that Antman, will give that a try if the problem persists after a clean install to Win 7 x64. I'm hoping that it is just some buggy Nvidia 7 series driver issue rather than a hardware issue. I am relatively positive that is the case since the problem was not occurring in Win 7 safe mode while the GPU was under stress.

If it still occurs, I will try upping the voltage, if that doesn't help, I think I'm gonna have to go with a PSU upgrade.

Although my money is on the Nvidia drivers being the culprit.

And I would have lost that bet.

Thanks for the help guys. I've consigned myself to the fact it's likely my PSU. I did two installs of x32, one just installing over my WD10k drive and the other was a fresh install after formating from comm prompt. Then when that didnt work, I reformmated again and this time went with x64. It went for a bit without any issues but soon as I popped on an episode of boston legal the gpu fan started to whir and screen went crazy.

Judging from the various drivers and fresh installs I did, the screen shot showing no problems, I can only assume that when the GPU comes under stress, my PSU just isn't strong enough to deliver it the juice it needs. I was really hoping this wasnt the case, but I am running a OCZ 440W Powerstream for an AMD X2 4400 OC'd to 2.37 (yes, put it back at normal to test), 7900GT, 6 HDDS, 2 optical drives, Audigy ZS 2, ATI TV Tuner, and 2 cold cathode tubes, and 4 Chassis fans. It has held up until it met Win 7, but I think with the graphics requirements of Win 7, it's just not enough juice to run it all. The only other option is trying a different vid card.

Anyway, this unexplainable issue has been my one and only snafu with Win 7, and I do think MS has surpassed themselves with this OS. Thank God, no more vista. (XP is to 7 as ME is to Vista?)

Wow, it's nice to see "old school" responses as well as "new school" but reviewing all the forums and being a listner rather than a talker I have seen this.

GOOGLE IT. You will not have an engineer call you back. You will be stuck like me and move on. XP was flawed for years and MS took Vista and (2000'nd it) and we have windows 7. It's Vista with all the failures fixed. I have been using Win 7 for almost 6 months now and testing it dramatically. What I have found is this. It's Fixed Vista.

I can only say it works. It works great. But when I have an issue like i DO TODAY i CANT EXPECT A PHONE CALL, NOR AN EMAIL. I am just a Vista.c beta tester.

I believe that there is a fundamental system requirement for Windows 7 that has not been announced. High quality PSU. There are too many issues that involve stable power distribution on the mobo.

I am waiting for an engineer to call and explain it to me.
