Radeon X1650 Pro (512MB) PCI-e (Help needed)
A couple days ago I finally decided to try out Windows 7. To my surprise if found myself liking the experience (I was one to downgrade back to XP from Vista).
So far I haven't run into any problems except my video card.
In the setup I am using I also have my computer hooked up to my Tv so I can watch the movies I download. Right now I am at a standstill because I can't clone my desktop onto my TV which would allow me to watch the movies.
The primary drivers for my monitor work perfectly. I have no complaints there. It is just getting that Catalyst Control Center to work (which it won't) so that I can select the "clone" option that is screwing me up. Other than that my experience with Windows Seven has been flawless.
So far I have tried using both the 32bit and 64bit versions of Windows 7.
With the 32bit installed everytime I tried to connect my second conneciton to the video card my primary monitor would go dark and my TV would take over as the primary monitor. None of the drivers out there that I tried (both the new catalyst drivers and the last updated drivers for X1650) would fix this.
I then switched over to the 64bit version of Windows 7 and got a little bit better results. This time when I would connect to my TV my main computer monitor would still stay my primary monitor and my TV would stay secondary. The problem is the only thing that shows up on my TV is the Windows desktop background and nothing else. No start menu no nothing will appear other than that background. As of right now that is where I am at.
With that said is there any fix out there for this problem at this time? If not can I expect a fix for this in the future or should I just start making plans to put a little money back here and there to buy another video card that can fall within my limited expendable budget.
Any help into this problem would be greatly appreciated as I would like to make the switch over to Windows 7 now rather then wait a couple months when I can afford another 60 to 100 bucks to buy another video card that can support HD.
Again any help would be greatly appreciated.
