Drivers Wanted for This Nvidia Card....

Given a dual-VGA card to go into my new PC. Moving to Windows 7 from Vista.

I used to use Linux Ubuntu, and the details noted from those days are:

    Identified as: 'N17GL Quatro NVS'

The label on the card reads: PNY Technologies VCQ4200NVS - PCI

PNY emailed me to say it's no longer supported.

My Vista settings were: NVIDIA Quadro NVS (Microsoft Corporation - XXDM)

    Driver files: nv4_mini.sys and nv4_disp.dll

The Nvidia page: Drivers - Download NVIDIA Drivers

Gives a list of NVS product numbers but I don't know which one to select.

I've attached a pic of the card.

    Go to
    Drivers - Download NVIDIA Drivers
    And try
Option 2: Automatically find drivers for my NVIDIA products.

Tried that but it tells me I'm using the correct driver without any suggestions.

I'll remove the card and see what happens when I replace it.

Update. Removed card and used the system board's VGA. Replaced card and still no good. Not picking up Nvidia card or even attempting to search for it.

Update II. Still got a hard disk with Vista which I re-connected and it went away and searched for the correct driver, 'NVIDIA Quadro NVS (Microsoft Corporation - XDDM)'. Looking for a way to manually set this up in Windows 7. I know what the individual files that make up the drivers, so that's a start.

    Vista Settings

I've attached the current, working setup from my Vista hard disk.

Based on the pny #, it lists as NVS 200.

The NVS 280 is not compatible. So I would guess this would hold true for the 200 as well ...

You're not going to find a Windows 7 driver for it as that card is just far too old. It is based on the same core as the old MX420,

    Video Card Comparison - GPUReview.com

which also does not and never will have a Windows 7 driver. About the best you're going to get for it is the last XP driver,

    ForceWare Windows XP/2000 32-bit

and no Aero will not work with it. Aero requires a minimum of DirectX9 hardware support, and that old card is DirectX 7. May have to use Compatibility Mode to get it to install.

Seeing as you say this is going into a new computer, might want to consider getting a card that isn't 10 years old and has current support.
