I had two VaporX HD 5870s running in Xfire, and had lots of issues in Bad Company 2. Ran really smoothly with just the one card all maxed out settings wise. Now I play Battlefield3 on high with the one card, also very smoothly. I concluded that the problems were driver related not CPU.
I am useing the 12.1a preview driver.
    Try it and see:

I think that was one of the Biggest issues of the 5 series no tesselation and no stable drivers

I persoanlly havnt had any issues yet with my X-fire set up and i am even using two different brand names against the advice of the store specialist or there so called guru

Person told me the set up would never work but was hesitant to even listen because it shouldnt matter what brand makes it ,It came from the same dye set and a different name slapped on

I recomened doing exteneded research like i did to understand what you are dealing with ,I am no means a expert just speaking from my general experience
