    Get a 6870 now .. or wait for the 7870s ..

I am window shopping for a new system, and decided on the 6870. But just recently the 7000s started to get released. Should I wait till the 7870s come out and get one of those or get a 6870 then .. or get the 6870 now?

I understand you are from the States, but another thing to consider is the 6870 was just over £200 here in the UK when it was first released. It has been out a fairly long time now so can be had for as little as £120.

I imagine when the 7870 is first released it will also be over £200 and at present a 6950 can be bought for less than that.

    Cheers

    Paul.

Paul is right Uk is more price friendly then US sometimes
But keep in mind 6870 is a solid card so is the 6950 or 6970 if you have about 350.00 cash limit you can have the top of the 3 for a bit under 350.00

Which will be about 50% cheaper then a 7870

Well he would need a new Psu period to run just one 6870 but then again people have special psu that are rated under the recommended speed and still does the job

minimal requirment is 500 watt psu and to X-fire 600

Also in my other Post about the X-fire situation Ivan the so so gave me a PSU calculator the Op can use this to determan if this is suitable

from Ivan the soso-----Thermaltake Power Supply Calculator

Another possible option would be to add a second power supply if possible....
