Yes sorry, I read it after. I have took heed your words :).
So what the cheapest, best value option the HD 5450, the GT 430? Or other? I want to keep it as cheap as possible
Since you are running a 32 bit OS, and since the video ram counts against the 4 gig or so max ram, plus factor in the fact that the card isn't fast enough to even use 1 gig of VRam I would go with the cheaper 512 card.....
But there is no big rush, see if you can find a 430...but generally Nvidia cost more for the same performance....Also keep in mind the driver has stopped working threads with Nvidia drivers Graphic crushing PC

Thanks. Theres so many brands of the same card. Any in particular to look out for/avoid? Ok I'll check out a 512 one I think, just pick up the cheapest 5450 or gt 430 I can find.
Read any reviews about the card if possible.....
If you register within in 30 days a XFX card has a lifetime warranty (at least stateside:))
Check all the flavors of the cards....Sometimes the manufactures will discount the last generation...
Google is your friend, but watch out for the scams, price check everywhere, but only buy from a reputable retailer
Here is a good page with the cards ranked by strength Graphics Card Hierarchy Chart : Best Graphics Cards For The Money: January 2012
You never know...Your local computer shop might really be tired of looking at that 4770 sitting on the shelf:)
