i am very computer ignorant and am not sure how to check the pc type
I don't know what to tell you. I haven't bought a commercial PC since 1995, with the exception of a cheap Compaq notebook I bought back in 2008 when I was laid up with a broken ankle. (Couldn't elevate the leg while seated at my desk.) The Compaq has a sticker with an exact model number on it. Dell machines have sevice code tags. None of this is technical.

Or, you could ask whoever purchased the PC for you. They may have receipts.

ye and upgrade in 1-3 years when the new Xbox or PlayStation comes out which shouldn't be long since the new wii-u is coming out this year so Microsoft and Sony are sure to follow after Nintendos release lol Stick with pc it will still run what ever those new consoles through out since they are like 5 gens back and assuming the new Xbox is said to have similar graphic power to a 6770 which is a 100$ pc video card which is like the bare minimum to run on a nice resolution. Buying consoles is just buying outdated hardware that cant be upgraded.
