Reason being is that as I understand it they have a newer/updated power subsystem design to work with the FX CPU's, where the older boards basically only had the socket changed from AM3 to AM3+ and doesn't have the updated power circuitry.

Same goes for any and all Nvidia based boards, unless any of the few remaining manufacturers used the updated circuitry (doubtful), and not just changed the socket and added a bios update.
The motherboard robcardiv listed uses an old nVidia chipset. It's more of an AM2 chipset that offers limited support for AM3 features. The board does not officially support the FX CPUs:

As there are honest boards at Newegg with AMD chipsets that officially support the FX CPU for less than $5 more than nVidia based board, you'd do well to start there.
