    Win 7 Projector issue

    Hi @ All

I'm having serious Problems trying to connect a projector to my IBM Thinkpad T40. If my PC is running and i hook the projector on to it, nothing happens at all. If i press Fn+F7 (switsch monitor) my screen turns black for a second and then goes back to normal, but the projector still doesn't get any input.

If I turn of everything, then turn on the projector and then my Pc, I have to press Fn+F7 while booting, so the Signal switches to the Projector. But my screen turns black. Even if I press Fn+F7, the projector turns black for a sec and then turns back to normal, but my Laptop-screen remains black.

I tried the "connect to a projector" feature, but nothing happens.

As well, when i try to mess whith this issue, it won't even recognize a second display. Not even wehen the proerktor works.

This is really annoying, because i planned to use this LT for all kinds of presentations, which is impossible right now.
PLEASE help me. Thank you already in advance!

Not sure how to help you, but I can tell you a new key combo you might like.

    WindowsKey + P

Maybe on your model fn + P then. (Or whatever is all the way bottom left.)

Or from start menu search box, type displayswitch.exe and hit enter. You can make a shortcut to it if it does anything good for you.

Thanks, but displayswitch is the same as "connect to a projector" (only the .exe of it). So nothing happens if i hit it. Fn+P doesn't work either.

    I really appreciate your help!

How are you connecting the projector to the Thinkpad? I had a similar problem with my HP Pavilion.

Windows Vista and Windows 7 by default turn off the external video ports. There are a few ways to turn them on - either by connecting an external monitor/projector before you power on your laptop or by putting your laptop in hibernation, connecting the external display, and then waking up your laptop.

The other options involve right clicking on your desktop, selecting "Personalize" at the bottom, on the left side under "Tasks" click on "Connect to a projector or other external display". This will open the Windows Mobility Center. Here you will find on option to select "Connect Display". This will then activate your external display port and locate the external projector/display and provide you option on how you want to work with the external display - Show Different, Duplicate, ect.

    Hope this helps!

Having the exact same issue with my IBM Thinkpad T40 and the projector. Mobility Center doesn't detect the projector, only on startup or re-start.
