    LP240zx display port problem

    I have very unusual problem.
New HPZ800 quad core with QuadroCX video card running Windows 7 64bit release candidate. 6 mb Ram. Remarkable performance.

Bought dreamcolor HP Monitor. Ran fine. Latest firware. Newest Nvidia drivers. Newest monitor drivers. Calibrated fine with Spider Elite colorimeter. Profile appears very good.

One hour later goes into screen saver mode or something. Black screen using Display port. Use display port adapter to DVI cable works fine. This appears to exclude bad display port output from card.

This is the second monitor that does this. The first was reported as monitor defect.

Anyone had this experience or suggestion?

I'd try disabling all Power Saving options in Win7. Set power profile to High Performance and then go into the Advanced section and nuke anything related to display or graphics.

Just a suggestion, not sure if it will help.

I can tell you that I've seen this exact problem on two z800's where I work. This is the first thread I've found online where someone has mentioned the same issue.

XP 64 is installed on both systems here. New systems, new monitors, etc. I was on the phone with HP support and we've replaced the display port adapter and the video card with no success. Changed out which PCI-E slot the video card was in, same issue. It only happens when the monitors go to sleep. The monitor on the display port connection just never comes back up (won't even be detected actually). I'm curious if when you have this problem, if you go into the Nvidia Control Panel and try to select dual display, does the menu seem to flicker and keep resetting your choice?

I'm about to try disabling the powersave features here but it's a bit tricky since those settings are controlled by a GPO from Big Brother.

Meant to ask the original poster this as well...Can you get the second monitor to work after a reboot? That's another symptom we're seeing here.
