The legacy drivers, Catalyst v9.3, should work fine with your card -- but they are Vista drivers, not Windows 7 drivers. There are no ATI-supplied Windows 7 drivers for your card.

I have a similar situation with my card (x1600) and was able to get the drivers installed by choosing compatibility mode of "Vista".

Yeah i cant do this when im getting an error from the catalyst tho..

this is after removing the original driver.

"Driver Install: the driver package does not specify a hardware identifier"

    edit:
ive found a different catalyst version.. so im trying that.. all looks good so far :)

edit: Okay.. catalyst installed without error.. system rebooted but has now reverted back to the Microsoft ones.. so im just confused.

I've had better luck with the Catalyst 9.1 drivers. They can be found archived on the ATI site.

    Hey Guys,

had the problem and finally found the solution. It´s not a matter of WDM or Vendor-specific drivers, as one might think in the first place. With some older mainboards, especially those with AGP-bus and SIS or VIA chipsets, Win7 doesn´t install the necessary bus drivers.
Make sure, you get the right chipset-driver for your mainboard (open the case, have a look inside).

In my case, I needed the SIS-AGP chipset-driver. Just google for "SIS AGP chipset win7" and you´ll find a small driver (about 3 megs) hidden in a file like "agp121.zip".

    Once installed, Win7 started with its native WDM1.1 driver in 1920x1080 !!!! : ))))
No need for "newer" drivers, though, the CCC would make sense....

I might have tried the same way before with an AMD Radeon 2600PRO AGP. That one would have worked as well, I´m sure....
