Monitor Wont detect HDMI Cable (Works With VGA)

Hi, I recently connected a different monitor to my pc but it only works with VGA, When I connect HDMI cable it acts like there is no cable connected. I got hdmi to work abit but I have to use very low resolution. What could be the cause of this?

    Thanks

I'm unfamiliar with your monitor, but most have controls on them to select the type of interface that is to be used. Have you selected HDMI?

This is the only link I can find with any info on that TV,

POLAROID TLU-01911C | Giá Tivi LCD Panasonic, Mua Tivi LCD Samsung, Sony R

May be why it doesn't work with HDMI when connected to the computer as a lot of TV's don't when there is also a VGA connection available, especially cheaper/lower end models. Unless there is an option in the TV's settings to set the HDMI connection to computer, you may be stuck using VGA.

Ok, but VGA has a blurry display on my tv. is there any way to make it look smoother? I have looked at the settings on my tv but there is only contrast and brightness, and no sharpness. Also the colour can look greenish at times.

Even though the modes are selected on the remote, doesn't the TV have an on screen display to verify that it is actually in that mode? If you are unable to enter HDMI, then you might try adjusting the resolution via the video driver's control panel.

I have already tried that but the only resolutions they will display are very low ones like 640 x 480 but that is too low.

What graphics card do you have? Is the driver current? How is the monitor labeled in the Device Manager?
