I need help with NVidia Fx 5500

    lol, Nova...I use the Nvidia site...just had to do a little research first. I have updated the post with the drivers from the NV site.

    With a card that old though...it's hard to say if it will enable aero. Some of what I have read says that it only supports pixel shader 1.1, and I think aero requires 2.0.

    Nessy have you used Windows Update to search for newer dirvers ?

    Okay, try installing this but when running the .exe (installation program) try 'troubleshooting compatibility' and set it for Vista SP2

    EDIT: Helps if I add the link.

    Same driver I linked.

    I used to have an FX 5200...back before I cared what my video card could do...

    WOW THANKS nVIDIA!

    It was linking me to the wrong drivers.. these don't support 5500.. at all.. any of the 5000 models actually.

    so i cannot enable aero ?

    Nessy...try downloading the drivers that Nova and I linked to. They are made specifically for your card, and may enable you to enable aero. Download them, run them in compatibility mode for Vista, and let us know what happens.

    yes yes yes i updated but in device manager dont appaear Graphic card

    i used from compatibility mode vista service pack 2 but it same nothing changes...

    "The NVIDIA Setup Program Could not locate any drivers that are compatible with your current hardwar.Setup will now exit"

    This is a bit odd. Try uninstalling the VGA Graphics from Device Manager and restarting when prompted too, then when Windows starts up again CANCEL the installation of the new drivers.

    Then try again with the run in compat mode.
