If you want a game that will kill all your trust in a card, get the witcher 2, and switch everything on to the best and make sure your Ubersampling is on. I garentee you will not be able to play that game.
But I agree with you, a 480 is a great choice for a card, and will last many years.
I have read that Uber is actually quite pointless at the moment, and is a well known to bring a pc to its knees, I built a Computer for someone with 2 GTX 580 3GB, I7 980x, 24GB Dominator, 1200 AX Corsair, an with uber on he could only hit 40 fps max
Hehe, yeah I know, I ran 3x580's one only on physics and just got over 40fps. But like I said, that is only if you want to bring your card down to earth.
Apparently lol, there is not a single card that can run The Witcher 2 on max settings with uber on, what the he*l is going on with that game lmao according to the link below i can run it on max settings :)
Game-o-Meter - Can you play it?
Well apparently the asus mars 2 can run it with ubersampling on,but yeah, this card is 2 overclocked gtx 580's. So basically, according the the stats you can run the game with 2 gtx 580's on full settings, but they leave the part out where you barely get 40 fps. haha. But you gotta love the design in game, for not allot of games can bring dual SLI 580's down. Maybe 2x680's in sli will make this game playable? Or,just keep everything on MAX in game, except for ubersampling, and you will get 65+fps easy, I personally can vouch for that hehe.
Have you seen the video on Youtube with the MARS in sli and it lagged very badly playing BF3, I have seen some where before can't remember when though, that the mars card in sli can cause a lot of problems, and my mate has 2 680's, and I believe he has The Witcher 2, I'll ask him later to see how many fps he gets with uber on :)
Nice, And no I havent seen any videos, I just saw some stats in a review and benchmark. That game was one of the reasons I switched to water cooling, It pushed a single stock gtx 580 up to around 87degrees C, and that was without ubersampling, when I got a second gtx580, The temps dropped to about 83, but still way too hot!!
But this has gotten off topic hehe, so Overson, for a final note, go for the gtx 480,its a great card. But if you can swing it, go for a 580, and if you can really swing it, go for 680. Anyway,if you have no further questions, please mark this thread as solved.
BTW sorry dude, the 670 GTX is a really good card to, can easily run bf3 on ultra no problem, an they aint too expensive at the moment.
