What graphics card are you using? Onboard or dedicated?

I have Intel and Nvidia so swtiches between to two. It is the Intel I am questioning as this is where the problem is and am also wondering if this is also anything to do with Windows Explorer which keeps wanted to restart. I think this may have happened after updating Intel driver but not sure as I have only spotted this problem.

Is this a laptop? Also, have you tried reverting the drivers to see if that was the problem?

Yes laptop, do you mean roll back driver because if so this option is not highlighted?

I have Optimus for my laptop (Nvidia and Intel graphics). Which driver did you update?

No need to worry or uninstall / reinstall drivers. There is no problem. If the external display is disconnected, it is of course just normal that system only shows one display.

If you have updated the display driver when external display was not connected, it has restarted itself after update procedure, noticed that you are only using your laptop's display, thus showing accurate de facto status: only one display connected.

I repeat: no problem, no issue, no actions needed.

I didn't know the other monitor wasn't plugged in. I figured since you were asking, that it was. I guess I should have asked.

I read the first post where the OP clearly stated he's only using one display at the moment meaning the external is disconnected, thus this being a non-issue.
