Blue Tinted screen issue

Hey,

Im on Windows 7 64bit, ATI radeon hd 4600 graphics card,

I recently upgraded to Windows 7 64bit from Windows XP 32bit. Soon after my primary monitor gained a blue tint (in other words the red color setting is disabled somehow).

I've determined that it is not a monitor, cable, or software problem. Switching to a different monitor doesn't get rid of it. Changeing the cable doesn't help, and I've updated the driver. I have no way of checking the video card itself.

I don't think it is a graphics card hardware problem either as my second monitor (which is hooked up to the same card) has no blue tint.

Anyone have any ideas?

If there is no RED on that output I would suspect it was a fault in the Video card. Have you got another PC you can swap that card into as a test? What type of output is it, VGA, DVI, HDMI? Did you reseat the card in its slot?

If you swap the connection of the two monitors to the video card, does the problem follow the monitor or the connector on the card?

If any monitor you plug into a single connector shows the same problem, then yea, something is probably wrong with the card (or possibly the connector itself).

Is the red /entirely/ gone? or just weak? (i.e. if you put something up that is bright red, is it red at all or is it black?)

There are a lot of color settings for most cards in the control panel... You can try to make sure that none of them are wacked out. Also try removing any monitor profiles and see if it goes away etc...

I can ask one of my roomates, Output is DVI but I have adaptors for VGA, and yes i pulled out the card and put it back in twice.

It follows the connector.
My background is mostly red/darker pink colors and it looks... well black and blue.
I believe I checked that, all settings are normal except for the red slider in that is just black.

I think you are right about the connector itself. When I have had to transport the tower itself in the past I left the adaptors hooked up to it and sometimes they were bumped pretty good in transport. Is there any way to check the connector itself?

I think I'll also try putting the card into a different slot on the same motherboard If I'm correct that will tell me if this is a motherboard or video card issue.

Edit: Putting it in a different slot on the same motherboard didn't work and trying it in a different computer doesn't help (blue tint still there on a different computer

My screen suddenly became tinted blue, and with LG's customer service assistance, I was able to solve it. (I never post in these forums, but just so no one else goes through the aggravation that I did, I'm posting the answer here.)

The LG customer service guy directed me to unscrew and unplug both blue D-SUB jacks, on the cord connecting the tower to the screen. After unscrewing and unplugging them, switch them, inserting the one that was attached to the screen to the tower and the one that was attached to the tower to the screen. Then, boom -- it was fixed, and the colors were normal.

The LG guy said that sometimes the computer cable's plugs like "fresh placement." I never would have thought of that. But it worked. So now you know.

I am guessing you reversed the ends of the cable? :) How you describe it, sounds like you repaired the ports or something.

i just registered to say that reversing the plugs worked for me too. Weird.
