    NVIDIA GeForce 8400M G Problem

I have notebook with the following components:
    Intel® Core™2 Duo T5750 2.0GHz 2MB MSIEX600X-431EU FSB667,
    3072MB (3GB) DDR2 667MHz,
    250GB SATA 5400rpm,
    15.4" WXGA 1280x800 Crystal Brite,
    nVidia GeForce 8400M 256MB

Everything worked fine on Vista Home. Yesterday i downloaded Windows 7 Professional (original) from MSDNAAC and i have same problems with graphic adapter as some members here. When i go to Display properites it is showing me that i have Standard VGA Graphics Adapter and it is having only 14MB(like when someone installs any OS that does not have drivers in their own database). At first i try to download new drivers from NVIDIA for my graphic card that are supported for Windows 7. When I try to install them after the extraction of files and start of setup an error message appears "The NVIDIA Setup program could not locate any drivers that are compatible with your current hardware. Setup will now exit"
I am not rookie for computers and i tried to uninstall Display drivers, Windows uptade and similiar things and it wont help.
I will appreciate if someone can resolve my problem.

Choose browse my computer for driver software
Choose let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer
Select Standard Display Adapter and choose Have a disk
Browse for some .inf files in folder u extracted downloaded driver setup and choose one of them
From a list of Graphic Cards select ur model and then just go next, yes etc. and restart computer

Hi r2d22, I had an issue with my Nvidia Geforce 8400M GT with my Sony vaio. I tried this tutorial in the end and it seems to work so far:

NVIDIA Driver - Convert from Desktop to Mobile (Laptop)

The key is to download a Desktop version that is close to your graphics card model and then modify the NV_DISP.inf file accordingly.

In summary, after you do what's stated in the tutorial and you restart the PC/laptop, the screen resolution should change(for the better) :)
