ATI Catalyst problem on HD 4870

I ve installed some game today nd it may installed few other components with it (most likely directx) however, after that i got into the CCC (had 11.9 installed on Win7 x64) and somehow the Overdrive function wasn t working - everytime i loaded CCC nd clicked on Overdrive i had to "Agree" again, tho i ve that nd when i click on Agree in the Overdrive tab it just dissappears the whole Overdrive optinion. I load CCC again nd again click on "Agree" nd the same. Since i do often change the settings in order to control the temp in Games so i was like "wft? ok i will reinstall it".

I did the express uninstall, removed all folders nd reg entrys, then installed the same drivers but during the installation it didn t had that "blink to black screen and back" effect, which confirms the drivers, nope it just went tho. Now i m missing the CCC option (right click on desktop) theres also no Catalyst folder in the start menu.

So i did the big thing, removed everything from Vcrest to Framework 4.0, deleted regs and folders, also used DriverSweeper to uninstall ATI windows drivers.

Rebooted and tryed to install 11.9 - nope nothing, same thing with the lastest 12.6 CCC. What re my options here, before i do a format?

I just stubled here by accidednt, but since I'm here... I've had this issues from time to time... and as checklist ... If I remember correctly you've got to run sweeper as an admin or it won't have permissions to acctually clean your system, second... I also remember, saying something to run sweeper in a safe mode.. I never did, but I think that's what they suggest...
and lastly... if everything fails try to remember speciffic version you've had on you system install, and then unninstall... I know... That would be a bitch to do... but installation will create precise log for the uninstaller...

Or better yet... wait for someone qualified from around here to help ya

    Good luck.

Thanks mate, but i allready did the job with formating it. Now the strange thing is; CCC 11.9 doesn t work but the 12.4 Version does. Ha! How f****** great, nd i m gonna kill that guy who suggested me to buy "this gamer strict ATI card" i m gonna inject some M-99 into hes neck nd then put him on the kill table, cut him in pieces nd throw them in the sea.

lots of AMD card users are sticking with the 12.4 driver..

    - it's very stable with 3***,4*** and the early 5*** series cards..

if you're feeling adventurous, you could try this one..
AMD Catalyst 12.6 BETA (8.97.100.3 July 3) AMD Legacy Driver - Guru3D.com Forums

it's a test driver, but it addresses some of the issues
that the official WHQL 12.6 LEGACY version seemed to have left unsolved..

Also, I see that the 4870 is listed as supported hardware..

    - it might be worth trying..
