Windows 7: PC To TV via HDMI. No signal.

Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit
PC To TV via HDMI. No signal.

When I connect my PC to my TV Via HDMI Cable, my TV does not receive a signal. When I check in Control panel>Display>Resolution, My TV hasn't even been detected. My TV is an LG 50", Card is a GTX580, and my OS is Win7.

Also, when I connect my laptop to my TV via HDMI (Also on Win7), It is instantly recognised and automatically displays, so it has to be an issue with the PC itself.

Spent a while on google trying to find a solution, but unfortunately I couldn't find one. Thanks for any help on this.

Linux CENTOS 7 / various Windows OS'es and servers

Hi there
What do you get on your MAIN PC when you press the windows + P key. It should be settable to display on 2nd screen only.

It should allow you to switch monitors. The monitor probably isn't being recognized since your PC is set to display on your main screen only (by default).

Ensure the TV is switched on and the input set for HDMI. You'll probably have to change the resolution - laptops seem to work fine --desk tops seem to be different -- probably because of the difference in the graphics cards - especially built in ones.

Laptops recognize when a monitor is plugged in -- this isn't always the case with Desktop PC's so try it with the WIN +P key with the TV switched on of course and the HDMI cable plugged in.

If you DO get it to work don't forget to re-set the screen back to PC display before disconnecting or at the next boot if you don't have the TV plugged in you'll end up with a nice blank screen.

Windows7 Professional 64-bit SP1

I'm having this same problem. It used to work just fine, but something happened & now I get the "no signal detected" message on the TV screen. I replaced the cable. The inputs are apparently fine, because my computer shows the brand & model of the TV being connected to it.

Something strange: When the monitor is plugged in to the VGA input & the TV is plugged into the HDMI (these are the only options I have, by the way), the monitor suddenly becomes the secondary display (#2) & the TV becomes the primary display (#1). And even when I hit WIN+P, it shows opposite in the menu...for example, selecting "Computer Only" turns off the actual computer monitor, while selecting "Projector only" leaves it on.

I've updated all the drivers & firmware.

In short: the connection seems to be fine, but for some reason, the TV stopped receiving the computer's signal.
Any help? Thanks in advance

Try this
Power off both TV and PC

Connect the TV and PC via HDMI (make sure you use the port associated with the input selection)
Turn on the TV
Select the HDMI input

You're sort of stuck - your TV is your monitor

I don't know how to help if you can't see anything. Maybe you could borrow a monitor. Does your TV have a VGA connector? If you could connect using that, at least you could check some things.
