Aero lag on a dual-video card laptop

    Hello everybody!
    I'm a relatively new Windows 7 user.

I'm running it on my HP Pavilion g6, which has a Intel Core i3 processor@2.3 ghz, 4 gb RAM and both an ATI Radeon HD7670 and an Intel HD 3000 series video card.

So the problem is that the aero effects are kinda laggy, for example when using the windows key+tab or when shuffling around the elements in the start menu.
I know there is an option to select which video card runs a certain application( Configure switchable graphics), but how can i canfigure it so the windows uses the faster ATI card, rather than the Intel one?

EDIT: I also forgot to add that all the drivers are the newest versions.

    Cheers to everyone

Well I don't have problems assigning different video cards for different applications. The problem is that I don't know how to assign the ATI card to the Windows.

you can try to disable the Intel HD Graphics card. Check in your BIOS if you can select a default graphics card and disable the Intel integrated one.

I couldn't find any options about the graphic card in the BIOS setup.

manually update the intel 3000 graphics driver. (it's actually capable of doing aero)
I had issues with it on my system too, the driver pulled through windows update is not the newest/ correct one. You have to go directly to intel's download center for it.

I don't know if it will solve your problem specifically but it did clean things up for me.

conversely you can try assigning the ati to explorer.exe
as it's the root app windows runs off of.

Ok so the Intel drivers are up to date according to the Intel site.
I also tried assigning the ATI card to explorer.exe, but really no change.
Another thing I tried is rebooting and running the Windows Experience Index. The interesting thing is that with the high performance card assigned to explorer.exe the index for aero experience dropped by 0.1
