Cheers ATI and all other companies debuting the future of technology...

    I salute you

Now we need a thread on the upcoming Intel Core i9 - The world's first 6-core processor (12 with Hyper Threading)

Hexacore Xeons and Opterons are already out in the wild. Hell, there's even 12-core AMD’s Magny-Cours 12-core CPU. It's not a native 12-core (MCM package) but neither were Core 2 Quad (MCMs also) and we considered them Quads.

Your comparing server processors with Desktop processors...there is a difference there

Sure it is, you just mentioned the "world's first". Problem is, writing is never enough for expressing what you want to tell, especially in such a condensed form - posting :)
Specs wise (as per Wikipedia), Nvidia's GTX 300 will eat the HD 5870... can't wait and see, as I will not upgrade until 32 nm CPU's and Nvidia DirectX 11 generation. If the pricing remained as it was first rumored (HD 5870 at 299$ - not at 449 and 399), that would've been really tempting. At least if the HD 5850 had the same number of shaders as th 5870...
The inside whispers (untraceable) are saying that the 23rd will be worth waiting for, though... so start hoarding the green in the cookie jar!
    EDIT: Updated pricing surfaced:
    - 5850: 279-299$
    - 5870: 379-399$
    - 5870x2: 599$
