    Hi Tiger and welcome,

What three registry things are you talking about? Fill out your specs so members can help you. You know, what kind of processor, graphics, memory, etc. No one will be able to help unless you give them information that gives a idea why you might be having problems. You can look at mine to give you an example. Bottom left corner, My system specs.

    Hello Tiger...

You will find your latest driver for your Aspire 3610 here:
    Acer Pan-America Support

    Select product type: Notebook
    Select product: Aspire 3610
Select download: Intel VGA 910 915 v6.14.10.4714 -> Windows VISTA

Select this file and download it. It is the latest one from your manufacturer. Try also running Windows Update and see what drivers it finds to install

no hacks will work. intel 915 does not work in vista. what makes you think it'll work on
    W7??
dump the laptop. AERO needs at least intel 945gma to run.

    Easier said than done!

I have an Asus R2H UMPC. This is basically my issue:
If one where to install Windows Vista on the device the taskbar would be black and have the default Windows Vista look and feel without Aero glass experience. I'm pretty ok with running without Aero glass. However, the standard Windows 7 toolbar is ugly! That blue/gray color is something I really dislike.
Some people have offered some tooling to get the taskbar to be somewhat transparant, but what I'm looking for is a way to get a decent looking taskbar. If that means the system needs to be "tricked" into enabling Aero glass effects I'm ok with that as well.
It's very hard to change the appearance of Windows 7 with the Asus R2H.
Even changing the color of the default taskbar and title bars to black would be a solution.
All desktop themes that one can download are "aero" themes, so they don't work on an Asus R2H.
This has probably got something to do with the display adapter being an Mobile Intel 915GM/GMS,910GML Express chipset. Is there any expectation of new WDDM enabled drivers for this chipset? Since it is a UMPC obviously replacing the display adapter is not an option.

By the way: on another forum I understood that Aero has been working on 915 chipsets in some Vista bèta edition. However, at some point Intel decided not to write drivers that are compliant with the final Vista versions. They have just given up on people with 915 chipsets!
Now, the difference for Vista is not very irritating, but in Windows 7 you're stuck with those stupid standard colors!
