I also have been having the same issue but with a ATI Radeon HD 4650 video card on Windows 7 Ultimate (32 bit).

    My four digits are 9495.

Is there anything else you needed to know? I'd appreciate any help you can offer.

Alright, I'm gonna drop my question bombs here and hope that you guys know of something that I don't. Here's my specs that you need to know.

Mobo: MSI K82-NEO 2 Platinum, which uses the nForce3 chipset.
    CPU: AMD OPTERON 180 X2, dual core @ 2.4
GPU: Powercolor ATI HD 3850 AGP.

Now i'm aware that ATI is horrible when it comes to support for their AGP cards and 99% of the time, we need to go into the .inf and add our vendor ID. My issue is that adding my vendor ID doesn't work. I can install the drivers, and 7 will then recognize that I do in fact have a ATI HD 3850 AGP in my system but it doesn't use those drivers. It uses whatever generic ones 7 comes with so i'm stuck with a screwed up resolution and absolutely zero gaming. I've read that there's a big issue with the nForce3/2 chipsets and Windows 7. Mainly that those chipsets haven't been supported since XP. Do you guys have any ideas or maybe know of a new driver for that chipset that'll allow me to fully function within 7? Otherwise it's pretty sad that i've gotta go blow a couple hundred just to build a new rig when this one does what I want, when I need it to. Thanks ahead!!

I noticed that the corrected file that you gave me doesn't work with the file file from the physical ati website. They have different numbers. but the one you wrote fromt he guru website should possulby match up with the numbers on the .inf file that you wrote correct?

Hey Dlopez. This is what ya should do:

Download the 9.9 Catalyst for your card. Run the .exe and let it extract to c:\Ati...

Close the installer. Navigate to the driver folder that has the infs. You want the one with CL in it's name. Open it in notepad.

Add the following line under [ATI.Mfg.NTx86.6.0] section

    "ATI Radeon HD 3650 AGP" = ati2mtag_RV630, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_9596

    Save the .inf.

Now go into device manager, right click on your card, choose update driver. Browse my computer. Let me pick. Now find the CL .inf you edited and saved. If it says the driver is unsigned, tell it to install anyway.

After the driver installs well, you can go to where you orginally extracted to and run the setup.exe to get the CCC installed.

Let me know how this goes for ya. Post a screenshot of the device manager if and when you run into problems.

did as you said. copied/pasted then searched and installed. the only thing i did was let the cpu reset before installing the ccc? yet again i recieved the black screen then after that my cpu shut down. should i have ran the ccc setup first before restart or is this other failure somewhere else? it worked fine on both vista and xp. sort of confused as to why i'm having so much problem with it on 7
