Visiontek ATI Radeon HD 3650 AGP Standard VGA?
Hello all! I really enjoy this forum. You are all very knowlegeable.
I am having a problem. The MOBO I am currently running only has an AGP slot for my graphics card. So I purchased a Visiontek ATI Radeon HD 3650 AGP card. I am not planning on running any high intensity games or anything of that nature.
I have attempted every possible solution to install the driver for that card in Windows 7 but Windows 7 keeps defaulting to standard VGA driver:
1. I have run the latest version of Catalyst with the hotfix 9.9 released just a couple of days ago (as well as every other version back to Catalyst 9.6)
2. I have tried to upgrade the Standard VGA driver in hardware settings and it keeps telling me I have the most up-to-date Standard VGA
3. GPU-Z shows all the pertinent information regarding the card
Catalyst seems to install correctly going through all the processes, but when I access the Catalyst control panel, my options are very limited with almost all options greyed out. All video playback, in any type of media, using every possible player is choppy, pixelated, grainy. I have loaded every possible codec I believe.
I spent a lazy weekend trying everything... which is fine...that is how I have learned about computers. But I am truly exhausted on everything I can think of. I have searched and searched in this forum and many others and not found anything.
I know I do not have a top-of-the-line card and that AGP is a withering standard and does not set well in the computer world. But it is what I have. I am just tinkering with Windows 7 and this older machine so it is not pressing.
Can anyone point me down an avenue or thought process that maybe I have missed? Any suggestions would be so helpful. I do thank you all in advance.
