Is it possible to use both the GeForce and Intel graphics at the same?

    Hello,

I have an Asus N53SV-A1 laptop with both Intel HD Graphics 3000 and Nvidia GeForce GT540M processors.

The Intel processor is currently being used, and with it I am able to use either the VGA output or the HDMI output, but not both at the same time. This limitation is confirmed in the Nvidia Control Panel under "Set PhysX Configuration". It shows 3 devices/ports available (laptop display, HDMI, and VGA), but states that only 2 may be used at a time. It also shows the GeForce processor being available with a VGA port, but I can't seem to assign anything to it.

My question is, can I activate the GeForce VGA port, and run a monitor from it, while using the Intel processor to run the laptop display and my TV from the HDMI port? This would be very helpful, as I am constantly switching from one external display to the other.

    Thank you!

Welcome to Seven Forums Coronos. While conceivably possible with some motherboards and some GPUs, it will not work with your hardware. The discrete graphics card and the integrated graphics use the same PCI lane to display. Your discrete card will "switch off" the integrated graphics. A Guy
