Hi,

I have the same problem. Normally the problem starts from monitor driver. I installed the monitor driver, same used for XP and Vista. Installing was done with success. Then I tried to change the resolution from nvidia software. Even there was not present my standard resolution 1680x1050 I tried to add there a custom resolution, the same thing I've done in Vista. Here was the problem, after trying to add my custom resolution 1680x1050 there was just one posibility to test before to add. Pressing the test button, the stupid message told me that my monitor doesn't support that resolution and my custom config can't be added.

In this was there was not a posibillity to set my new config. I'll try the powerstrip, even if it's for the first time I hear about this software, if it doesn't work I'll be back soon.

thanks for all,
best regards,

isacdan can you tell us how you did it with powerstrip, because with all my tries it was not possible to configure the samsung 2243nw at native resolution 1680x1050 under OS windows 7!

thank you,

Hi, antonio1...
Just right-click on the Powerstrip icon in your Notification Area, go to Display Properties, then select Configure.
In the new windows that will appear click the Advanced timing options button. A new window will appear. Click Custom resolutions and select the one you want...

I did exactly what are you saying, but with no resolution results. All drivers are well installed, no exclamation mark in drivers manager. But still my monitor don't want to accept the native resolution. I tried also another procedure to go in powerstrip and to configure a resolution of 1680x1050 and to save that .inf file, then to use the file in drive manager for my monitor at update driver. I saw this procedure on the internet. But still with no result, my maximum resolution possible just at 1280x1024.

Without a standard resolution at 1680x1050 I can't stay anymore in this OS and I have to go back to XP. Even I felt a little bit higher speed with Windows7, I have to give up and to wait other more months for new release.
I'm so sorry because there is no solution, I hardly use graphics and I can't use my PC without native resolution!

I had the same problem, but then I downloaded new 64-bit drivers to my graphics card from Nvidia.com and used the Nvidia Control Panel to set the resolution to 1680x1050. Works perfekt! So, Antonio1, I thinkt you should try downloading 64-bit drivers before switching back to XP!

Jocke, currently I have 2 OS each one on one HDD installed, independently. I love the speed of Windows7 but I hate the native resolution not working, so I'm using now, I hope temporally WinXP.

About your advice, I tried with custom resolution from nvidia settings but, after I set 1680x1050 I have no button, no choose just "test". That test is not passed meaning I can't save and use my custom resolution. This was 2 weeks ago, I'll try again later at nvidia for the newest driver, maybe some improves. All the time I downloaded from nvidia Windows7 x64 driver.

By the way, I think the problem is monitor driver not nvidia, because also in WinXP I can't set native resolution until I install the monitor driver. After that in WinXP my native resolution appear in the list.

Use this driver - it works

Hey guys!

I made this driver to solve all the problem with our Samsung 2243nw monitors. Tasted it both on Vista, Vista SP2 and just released Windows 7 (release, not beta). It allows to set native resolutions for all ATI and NVidia cards. It replaces EDID info with the registry record to solve problem with wrong EDID info, so everything works just the way it should.

Just install it the way you install original driver and reboot.

Right now I want to try your driver with my monitor for Win7, but the problem is I can't install as my normal driver, because your driver is an inf file and my old driver is exe file. How can I install inf file for my monitor?
