19 Dec 2009   #31

I still can't install the driver for the samsung 2243nw monitor to work at native resolution 1680x1050 in windows 7. Does anyone have any solution?

It allows to set native resolutions for all ATI and NVidia cards. It replaces EDID info with the registry record to solve problem with wrong EDID info, so everything works just the way it should.

Just install it the way you install original driver and reboot.
Hi, Zer0r. Sorry for the long absence...
Thanks for the driver, I appreciate the effort, but could you please tell us how to install it?
I extracted the .inf file from the .zip archive, but I don't know what to do with it now... In the right-click menu there's an Install option, but when I click it I get an Install Error: The INF file you selected does not support this method of istallation.

@isacdan: Download and unzip the file to your desktop. Go to device manager>right click display>update driver software>browse my computer>let me pick>have disk> browse>navigate to the driver you have unzipped C:\Desktop "file name".inf>click (or double click ) on the .inf file>click ok>then next> and it should install. Yes, this driver should be installed through Update Driver procedure. Go to Personalize (right-click on your Desktop), then go to Resolution Change (sorry - don't remember exact button names in english version). There shoud be button - Additional or Advanced, press it. In opened window select Monitor tab, press Properties button. Then press Update Driver button and go through selecting .inf-file procedure. (Select exact file from disk, do not search).

This is how it works.

PS: Thanx, Fabe. You wrote first.:) Your way is another, maybe easiest way.

Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit

Thanks, Fabe and Zer0r! :)
The resolution is working great...
Also, I noticed that updating to the latest ATI driver (9.12 from 9.11) fixes the issue. Now I can also set other widescreen resolutions that were not available before.

Thanks again, everyone... And THANK YOU, Zer0r for taking the time to write a proper driver. :)

Hi, Erickpet, sorry for the late reply...

Try removing your monitor and graphics adapter drivers completely, and then reinstalling them, fisrt the NVidia drivers (links provided below), then the 2243NW one.

If this doesn't work, then give Powerstrip a try. You should use it to set a custom resolution, but be cautious.

Hope this helps...

Windows 7 x64

Hello all,

I also have similar problems as ones described on this post. But my monitor is SyncMaster 2243NWX and Zer0r's driver did close to nothing for me on Windows 7 x64. The monitor has VGA connector and is connected to video DVI using an adaptor. For all specs check my profile.

I coudn't select the native resolution for desktop after installing the latest drivers and Catalyst for my ATI 4870 and latest monitor driver. Unchecking the "hide modes that this monitor cannnot display" option, I was able to select 1680x1050 (monitor's native resolution) in CCC and solve the problem as far as desktop resolution.

Games were however a diffrent thing, as no game would show the native resolution in their options menus, but maximum 1360x1024. On my alternate OS (Win XP Home x86) no problem what so ever.

I remember resolving this issue some months ago, on Windows 7 x86, after a frenzy of installs and uninstalls of driver versions and restarts, but somehow I cannot remember the precise combination that unlocked 1680x1050 for all installed games. EDID editing was a bit frustrating for me, as the software indicated by other forums was not particularely easy to use and I probably got lost somewhere on the way.

Is there a solution to use 1680x1050 in games on Win 7?

Thanks in advance.

Hi! :)
Have you tried setting a custom resolution using PowerStrip? It worked for me.
