Native resolution doesn't appear

Hi,

I have an GeForce FX 5500(Zogis, with 256MB of dedicated memory and 511MB in total) conected by DVI to a 19" monitor(AOC 912Vwa-1), I use Windows XP in the native resolution but in Windows 7 it only appear when I'm using the XP drivers, but I can't use anything that use a little bit more of the GPU, like the Windows Live Messenger or the Windows Experence Index. With the Vista drivers I don't have these problems, but the native resolution doesn't appear. I can see 1280x800, 1280x960 and 1280x1024, but not the 1440x900.

The sistem show the monitor name in the "Screen Resolution" and I install the monitor driver but the resolution doesn't appear.

Somebody can help-me, please.

If you have updated to the latest drivers for your card you should be able to go to the Nvidia control panel and select use monitors built in scaling and the should set the native resolution, I have seen some other people with the same problem but they are all using VGA and as you are using DVI I see no reason why you should be having this problem.

In Nvidia Control Panel I only can change 3D options and change the multiple display settings. The driver for Windows XP has the option to force a resolution, but the Vista driver don't have. I also try to install a driver for other monitor that has the same resolution but didn't work.

I have the same problem.
I have tried a lot of times to use a driver that allows me to use a widescreen resolution (1440x900).
The Geforce 5500 vista driver is too old (version 86 - year 2006) and doesn't have the wide resolution.
I have tried to use the XP driver (version 175). Works fine, with 1440x900 resolution... for 5 or 10 minuts, so it crashs.
There is no update to fix it. I have heard about to modify the .inf driver files, but I don't know what line to change @.@

Somebody help us... :/

Do yourself a favor and just use a VGA cable instead. It'll save you a lot of time and frustration - TRUST ME.
I had the same problem with my Geforce FX 5700LE and spent hours trying to get my monitor's native resolution (1440x900) to work using a DVI connection. Nothing worked!

Also, even after switching to a VGA cable, the Nvidia Control Panel still only lets me change 3D and multiple display settings. Just FYI.

See, and some of us are experiencing just the opposite, I had nothing but trouble with my VGA connection, but after plugging it into a DVI adapter, my display has worked flawlessly..

Something is seriously up with 7's monitor/graphics support..

Forcing Screen Resolution Higher Than Native Resolution
Hi. I'm new here and this is my first post. I looked around a little and found one other thread with a similar question, but the question wasn't really answered. I can't find anything on the net that doesn't confuse me so bad it makes my head hurt, so I thought I'd try asking here. Thanks in...

Native resolution doesn't appear
I just changed my PC from one with Radeon 4800 and WinXP to one you can see in my profile (most important: Gigabyte GeForce GTX560 and Win7Pro64). I didn't, however, change my NEC LCD19WV monitor with native resolution 1440x900 (VGA cable connected via adapter to DVI-I). Thing is, that i...

Cannot set native resolution
I just got windows 7 over vista, and in vista, after playing around in the control panel for a while, I got it to show in 1920x1080 (my monitor's native res). As far as I know, I have all the latest drivers for my video card and my monitor. When I try to add a custom resolution, nothing happens...

hi guys, Since installing my new mbb(GA-73PVM-S2H) I have struggled to get the supplied nvidia display drivers to work and had to revert to windows 7 drivers. Today I managed to get the latest nvidia update to work but I can only get screen resolution up to 1600x 1200, whereas with my...
