graphics card update messed up areo

So here is the story. i updated my graphics driver and a majority of my display is just weird. my transparency disappeared and i no longer have tab previews when i mouse over an icon in the task bar. so i ran the transparency troubleshooter and it came up with color depth to low and desktop windows manager service is not running. problem really is that the service is running and my monitor is set to true color 32 bit depth. i took a print screen snapshot to clearify a little.
if you notice there is more desktop room under my task bar in which my mouse can venture and i could place icons on. if anybody can help it would be greatly appreciated.

What drivers are showing in Device Manager?

At a guess, you're on the Windows generic driver. No Aero Glass with that.

    Let me clarify:

Which drivers are actually in use?

uninstall your video driver, reboot then download the previous driver before the latest driver. Also make sure it's using a theme with aero and not aero basic.

OK, the NVidia drivers are installed. I'm not sure what the problem might be.

Uninstall the drivers from Control Panel... and re-install drivers and don't forget to restart in between install/uninstall.
