HHDMI: No signal when system is off.

I have a samsung smb2330h and just hooked it up with hdmi. I have been using dvi in the past, with the same pc..

When I leave the computer idle, the screen shuts off and goes into sleep mode
When I shut down, the screen shuts off and goes into sleep mode, UNTIL the system power is off. Then it says no signal.

When I go to hibernate the computer, the monitor says no signal.
When the computer is off, the screen says no signal.

Any ideas how to fix this?

Stick to DVI if it works properly. There is nothing to gain from using HDMI unless the monitor has speakers and you are using HDMI for audio as well as video.

The monitor doesn't have speakers, but a headphone passthrough. I don't have a headphone jack on my Pc, so I was previous just plugging my headset into the back of my PC.. Which wasn't ideal.

I know I'm going to have to switch back, but I'd realy like to know why it is doing this

This is normal operation for HDMI. VGA and DVI (FOR COMPUTERS) contain switching signals to tell the monitor to go into standby. There are no such signals in HDMI. Don't forget HDMI is used to connect multiple video devices to home TV sets and those users would not be happy if their Home Theater TV shut down to standby once the PC went to sleep or the Blu ray finished. You do not have an issue.
