    I'll get my staff to put together a comp similar to yours later today. We have lots of old parts lying around the warehouse that's not in use Atm. What are your current full spec?

    ok,

    I tried to run Need For Speed The Run on my new Radeon HD 4870 X2 with 10.8b drivers, the game showed me that i should upate drivers, but when I clicked "OK", it stardet normally and now I'm playing it.

    ...Is your CPU an Intel Pentium 4?

    Your CPU should be the problem.

    NFS The Run requires at least a real dual core CPU to run. The Pentium 4 is single core with Hyperthreading technology enabled, which "add" a second logical core to your system, increasing performance by a little, but it really has only 1 Core.

    I think this CPU is too weak for this game... I had issues with my Pentium 4 too running modern games.

    The GPU should be OK, because it doesn't matter your driver version. The game should start even you have Catalyst 12.1, 12.2, 12.6, 11.1, 10,8 ecc...

    Well, i never thought that is the problem...
    I will then replace the CPU with a dual core... I had a opportunity to buy a 3.2 Dual core (second hand) and a new 3.2, obviously Pentium 4, for the same price... They told me that is better for me to buy the Pentium 4 because it is new...

    The Pentium 4 is a really old CPU, and it provides very limited performance in today pc use.
    You need a new better CPU to run these type of games. NFS The run need a discrete GPU (The Radeon HD 5450 is OK) and a discrete dual core CPU...

    Socket 775 supports these Intel CPUs:

    - Pentium 4 HT, which you have got;
    - Pentium 4 Extreme, which are Pentium 4 extreme editions (slow as Pentium 4)
    - Celeron, slower than Pentium 4
    - Pentium D, which are really better than Pentium 4 since it has 2 real cores, but they are slow anyway;
    - Celeron D, which are dual core, but they perform like a Pentium 4 HT I think;
    - Core 2 Duo, which are good dual core processors, a lot faster than Pentium D CPUs;
    - Core 2 Extreme, which are extreme editions of Core 2 Duos;
    - Core 2 Quad, which are Quad-Core processor, the best for gaming on socket 775.

    To play decently, you need at least a Core 2 Duo. In my second pc I have a Core 2 Duo E6300 @1.86 GHz, and my games lag a few... And I'm unable to overclock it because my motherboard is locked.
    The E6300 should reach 3.2-3.4 GHz at air, performing a lot better than standard clocks.

    What motherboard have you got? I can help you to choose a new CPU compatible with it.

    Yeah dorado is spot on on that. I suggest a c2d e8xxx series. Be sure to check mobo compatibility before swapping procs.
