What is your PSU? Recommending a GFX s hard without knowing what your PSU can handle to begin with

First tell me what you can spend, and we can work from there. Low cost is a relative...

I would also recommend increasing your RAM to a minimum of 2gb.... If your new video card starts using shared ram, your system is going to really lag... you are already below the minimum as it is...

Maybe an Ati 4750 or an Ati 3XXX series. Should be cheap and shouldn't require too much power.

As seen in your sig... if you have a Pentium 4 @ 2.4 Ghz and AGP motherboard I recommend upgrading that before a graphics card.

    That.

There really is no point in spending time looking for an old AGP graphics card. If I were you I'd upgrade to a completely new computer. It'd pay off in the long run especially with windows 7.

Would a newer video card even work with those specs?.

Save up and upgrade. Thats the best thing you could do :).

    AMD ATI HD 4770.

Around $110 if you can find one, in demand so hard too find.
