    Monitor Problems.

    Hi all,

I installed the windows 7 on a partitioned drive. And the Os works alright but i get these random and lately consistent error that when I run the OS, My monitor does not displaying anything after the windows logo startup. Its a black screen, the monitor displays information in safe mode but not in regular mode. If I go back to windows vista everything runs fine. I need to restart the OS constantly before it finally displays the windows bar etc etc.

My graphics driver is Nvidia Geforce 8600 GT, My monitor is acer P223w.
    My resolution is 1680 X 1050.

I have installed latest windows 7 update also on the driver.

I have noticed one thing that windows 7 gives me an option. To display images on two monitors but I only have one installed. So i think that might actually be the problem on boots. So i modified the setting.

If you have a DVI cable you might want to try that to see if it responds better, that's if you have the option.

It seems some people are having problems with VGA in Windows 7 when using an LCD monitor, they are not getting correct resolutions and maybe that's is what is happening to you, possibly it's out of range.

Just remove the VGA cable and use the DVI cable instead and when you startup it should recognize is it straight away and select the native resolution by default.

If you're like me, and your monitor has a VGA cable only, and it is your graphics card that has DVI input, you can buy an adapter at Best Buy (or elsewhere) and use that to plug your VGA cable into the DVI input of your graphics card. Otherwise, as Mr Grim said, just use your monitor's DVI cable instead.

Thanks for all the help guys. It appears it was due to the VGA and DVI both being plugged into my computer. So windows 7 was detecting it as two different monitors on my comp. So unplugging the vga solved the problem also changing the setting on the control panel resolution solved it also. I was kinda thrown off because I never experienced that on vista OS. Anyways thanks again.
