Hey bala2289, I am also in India and use 6870. I will suggest you to go for it. Do not order it online, get it from the store. I agree with all the users that you need to have a good PSU. I am using coolermaster 750W. But, you can go for 650 or 600W as well.
Thanks Archer. I could not afford an 6870, i thought of going with a 6850, along with cooler master 550.

Did they discontinue 6850, its only available in ebay global easy buy. What about 6790? Cant find it anywhere online.

Yea man some of those HD6870's still cost I had 2 of them Kept the Twin Frozer Version gave up My Diamond one to a good friend with a even trade

The Frozer I think was cheaper then the Diamond but has a better cooling design and the Diamond to it's accord did overclock well

so the difference when I payed American was Diamond was 250.00 and the MSI Frozer 219.00 Frozer came Factory Oc but couldn't go much higher when Paired with the Diamond

So now Im running Visionteks 2x 7970's and being paired I have good Oc 1100/1450 well good Ghz ed OC and thats good enough for me untill i can't get these cards to do anymore and that will be a long time

Hey bala, if 6870 is out of your budget, then i will suggest 6770. Its not expensive and handles games well.

    Hey all,
Sorry was not able to visit site for a while. Completely dropped plan for new pc . Got a new graphic card sapphire 7770 1 gb. Got cooler master Tx3 evo and added a cooler master 120mm Inlet fan.
    Overclocked i3 from 2.9 to 3.63 ghz. Just modified bclk from 133 to 165 mhz. So 165 x 22 = 3.63 (approx).
    Temp = Max 62c and idle 35c.
    Memory multiplier is 2:8 ratio @ 1320(max 1330).
In my bios im cudnt find options for modifying voltages. Refer screenshots for bios version. Its the latest, updated couple of months ago. Also my qpi value is 3630(refer screenshot).

    Questions.
    1) Is this qpi safe? Planning to overclock to 4 ghz but no voltage option??
    2) I have no idea for overclocking Ram, my default values are 9 9 9 24 (from bios) and 7 9 9 24 108 1T from cpuz.
    3) Check 3dmark 11 values is it any good for gaming (Playing BF3 @ Ultra with avg 45 fps).
    Thanks in advance.

Hey bala2289! welcome back. first of all congrats for the new card. Well, personally I will not suggest to oc the cpu to 4Ghz.

Performance can be difficult to categorize. In some cases, the 7770 is as fast as a $150 Radeon HD 6850. In others, it's as slow as the $110 Radeon HD 6770. AMD's GCN architecture seems to serve up better performance in DirectX 11-based titles, impressing less in older games. In any case, the Radeon HD 7770 costs too much compared to its still-available predecessors

Yep Archer i was planning to buy 7850 its way to powerful than 7770 but and then for 720p gaming 7770 is more than enough. Lets use this for an year or so until i get a 1080p monitor and lots of new gen cards will be lining up then.
I'm playing bf3, crysis 2 and 3 @ ultra with 7770 whats else can you ask from an 128-bit card.
Also check the graphics score in 3d mark 11 its more than what should be, in a review the reference 7770 had 315x and oc xfx had 33xx score but my sapphire is not oc'ed its stock 1ghz but score is in 37xx. Not sure how it happened.
3.6 ghz seems to be enough but there is still room for oveclocking. I3 can be overclocked to 4.6 with water cooling but on air 4 ghz should be fine. Temp now is almost stable at 62-63. But its too high right, might reach 70 if clocked to 4. But mine has reached 100c without bsod before i realized that thermal paste got dried and fyi i'm using artic silver 5 paste now.
    Note:
The next day after i ordered 7770 amd launched 7790 but it ll take its time to reach india so couldnt wait also i was not willing to pay another 2000k or something extra.

you are absolutely correct about the oc factor and the temps. As per my suggestion, why to overclock so high and reduce the life of the hardware. Also, the "real" gaming strength of the card is always better than what the companies promises (This is what i saw and felt).

Regarding the updated GPUs from the companies ........let's keep our cards for now and make the most of them.:) AMD and NVidia will keep updating the cards and gamers like us...will keep waiting for better cards to come in the market.

I am glad that finally you are happy with your hardware and a happy gamer like lot of us here.

    cheers!
