    Desktop Graphics Performance

I built an HTPC and used an Intel G620 CPU. Using the integrated graphics the Windows Experience Index for both Desktop Graphics & Gaming Graphics was 5.0.

I then installed an HD 6450 video card & the Desktop Graphics dropped to 4.7 and the Gaming Graphics increased to 6.2.

Why would the Desktop Graphics go down?

I thought about adding a graphics card to my HP desktop, but if adding a graphics card does not increase the rating then how can it be increased?

I am assuming that your motherboard is set up to run LucidLogix® Virtu. If that is the case, then your HD6450 will be the primary GPU used when you are running games, while less graphics intensive apps will still use the integrated GPU.
