New upgrade to windows 7 and black screen . How to change resolution.

    Hi
I am new to the forum so be patient with me . I have been stuck in this loop with my PC for two days now ( I know it sounds painful ) , but it's doing my head in . On my spare hard drive i have done a new install of XP and an upgrade to Windows 7 , all went well until the windows update . After the update the PC would not boot in normal boot i got a black screen , booted in safe mode tried to adjust the screen resolution put it on the lowest setting . booted in normal boot , black screen . I then looked up and downloaded the correct driver for my card and installed it great so I thought , went through the loop again with the same result ,black sreen .
I am now in a position that is if I disable the driver in safe mode ,the PC will boot normally ,but if i install the correct driver and re boot as instructed ,on the re boot it go's back to the black screen , I know that the PC is booting ok as i can hear the start up sound on the speakers . Can anyone please please tell my how to change the resolution on the new driver?

My card is a nvidia gforce 7200 gt .

The driver is for the 7000 series .

Hi garrydog, welcome to Seven Forums
I would uninstall all Nvidia in Safe Mode. Now follow this:- Installing.pdf
p.s. are you installing both the Motherboard & Display drivers.
