ATI Radeon HD5450 driver crashing to BSOD on boot

    4 sticks, 3x2gb 1x1gb. But the problem occurred a few weeks before I upgraded the RAM and windows. It started mid January when I was running Vista on 3gb RAM.

    im about to start the memtest so will be switching to my laptop in 2 mins

    okay thanks,

    Run the memtest and see if it picks up any errors, dont forget to Install Win 7 Service Pack 1.

    Also please update your ATI Drivers to latest version as you have a faulting driver:

    AMD Graphics Drivers & Software

    sorry to be a pain, should I upgrade to S1 first. My driver says its upto date?

    Yes update to SP1 first, then update your driver:

    fffff880`048f7000 fffff880`0535d000 atikmdag atikmdag.sys Thu Nov 10 02:52:46 2011 (4EBB3C7E)

    Latest version is 17/1/2013 (dont install Catalyst Control Center, just the driver)

    Well done the Mem test, 7 passes (14 hrs), windows S1 installed and the new graphics driver. Still having the problem.

    Hi,

    Here is the latest dmp info etc after the mem test and S1 install. The BSOD seem to of stopped though the system takes around 3 attempts to boot (resets itself just before profile log on screen). On the log on screen sometimes it now shows a few sections of lines about half and inch square in 2-3 places.
