    Hi Stormy, Razor and Jimbo,

Power supply isn't the problem. The problem is that you are using the VGA connection on the card, which shares the output with the HDMI connection making that you can only use one or the other at one time.
Without sounding daft, I thought the VGA connection was completely separate from the HDMI and DVI-D ports on the graphics card. Three separate slots at the back of the tower/graphic card.

One bit of good news though, from looking at the specs for your Asus monitor,
it should have come with a HDMI to DVI cable, which you can use to connect to the monitor's HDMI port and the video card's DVI port, which will then make the HDMI port on the card available for your TV.
I usually hook up my monitor using the HDMI to DVI slot. Changed it in order to use the HDMI to TV.

    Many thanks, katy

Almost but not quite. That is the case on the higher up Nvidia cards that support running Nvidia Surround, three monitors together in an extra wide screen configuration,

Unfortunately your card isn't one of those and as a result only has two RAMDAC's on it,

one for the DVI port, and one for both the VGA and HDMI port; hence why you can only use one of the VGA or HDMI ports at a time.

    Hi Stormy,

Super! Thanks so much for solving the puzzle. I'll have to try again. Fingers Crossed!

Anything else I need to hook-up the TV to the computer as an Entertainment Centre?

    Cheers, katy

    TV

    Morning AddRAM,

Thanks again for the excellent article. Read it late last night. I just hope all the corners I have to go around will not affect the quality of the picture. Fingers crossed!

This morning I found a post that was answered by Kari. Excellent job of explaining how to connect your TV to a desktop and the display monitor set-up.

Truly appreciate all the wonderful support here at The Seven Forums.

    Cheers, katy
