Doesn't look like it. Heres what Microsoft says : How do I revert back to using an older version of DirectX? - Microsoft Community

Have you considered trying your games in a Virtual machine? (assuming you have an older MS OS disk)

i really dont want to do a virtual machine considering my external GPU

is there any way to force the GPU to run DX 10.1 or 9 only?

Nothing to do with what the GPU supports to a point, and everything to do with what the game supports. If a game is DX9 only, then that is all it will run at regardless of whether the card supports a higher version. If the game supports a higher version, there is usually either a setting in the in game settings to select a lower version, or running at lower settings will force it to run at a lower DirectX version.

There is no way to force it through the driver or Windows.

    I believe not.

Some games have mode settings to only use limited DirectX settings (like DX9).

Directx is built into windows from what I understand. Read ...... somewhere....... that you CAN uninstall it , albeit with much gnashing of teeth and sorrow, but from what I gathered from MS theres other things that need it. I'm ASSUMING DirectX has "hooks" in it and each version is different. When I looked for the link I posted for you I DID find a place there (MS site) to download DirectX 9 , but not sure if you could get it on your machine from the admittedly cursory fast read.

yes ive installed that link, and it did no help. i alsoi tried to install dx9, but it wont allow me. says a newer version is already installed... it just dosent make sense that both my directx 11 games run awesome, but dx 9 games suck no matter what the graphic properties. all dx games worked fine before my new GPU.
