Running monitor and tv from AMD 6870 concurrently displaying different

displays such as a movie on the TV while I surf the net. Is this possible? I have my monitor hooked up via DVI. When I plug in the TV via HDMI the display switches to the TV and displays my computers output whatever that maybe. Using the Cat Control Center I can switch between displays but I can run both at once. I have done research but unfortunately nothing seems to be what I need. Is what I want possible using the setup I currently have or can someone direct me somewhere? Thanks

Mine does the same thing when I use my TV, it sets the TV as primary and the monitor as secondary. Not a problem as more of an annoyance, and no idea why it does it. Think it is a hardware level kind of thing, as it comes up the same on a reboot.

Now with that said it is an easy work around. First is to use Windows own display settings instead of CCC to set primary and secondary. Right click on the desktop and select "Screen resolution", click on the one that is your monitor (likely #2) and set it as the primary. That will force Windows to use the monitor instead of the TV as the primary display. Also make sure that it is set to extended mode and not duplicate/clone mode.

Now if you do like I do and only use the TV occasionally, from the "Multiple displays" dropdown set it to "show desktop only on 2". Then reverse the process when you want to use both.

Thanks but I am not understanding. I can see no place to input "set it as the primary"

The TV is connected while doing this and I have done nothing in CCC

when I select apply the settings can't be saved

I think I am following your directions but I might not be. Thanks for your help.

Try selecting your "2" display and see if there is a selection to make it your main display.

The 2 display is selected as main display by default

Try 1 (which is what I meant).

If 1 is selected the option is there it just is not selectable

CCC identifies the displays differntlt 1 is 2 and 2 is 1 in CCC
