Measure from the end of the case to the optical drive in your case. Mine is a totally different layout with the PSU on the bottom and not the top like yours.
I'm just trying to show you the added space you'll need to make the cables turn 90 degrees to head out to there connections.

That could be the rub right there. You need a good 2 inches to connect the cables and have them make a turn away from the optical drive. You may need to relocate the optical drive into a lower bay. In my latest build I used a non modular PSU like what your replacing only much upgraded quality. It may actually take less space as the whole bundle of cables comes out of one whole in the PSU.

got another question. The corsair hx 1000w psu model claims to have a dual transformer. What exactly does that mean. It also said something of having 2 12V rails with 40A each. Please explain. I am looking at this one and the coolermaster silent pro m 1000w bronze. Gold version if it fits. Which one is better and why. Thanks!

Dual transformers just splits the load between two transformers kind of like having dual power supply's. The dual rails as well is the same benefit splitting the load onto two rails gives the power supply added capacity for large power demands like triple SLI. All of this is way over kill for your rig and not to be of concern.

It being what? I was concerned if the modular cables coming out the back only having the 1/2 inch of room as you noted wouldn't be enough room for the cables to do there thing.....making a right angle to head into the case difficult?

Need help purchasing Hi guys,
I'm planning on building a new PC in a few weeks with Windows 7 Professional as the OS. The PC I use at the moment has Windows Vista 32-bit edition, since my CPU is 32-bit only.
The new PC is going to have a 64-bit processor, and I wish to have the 64-bit windows 7 run on it.
