Video card and RAM (on Windows 7 32Bit)

Hi everyone, I used to have an integrated video card and now I just upgraded to a Geforce 6200. I have 4 GB of and before the video card upgrade 3.5 GB of RAM was usable and now after upgrade only 2.23 GB is usable. What can I do to fix this? Thank you

The thing you can do to fix it is install a 64bit version of Windows.

32bit is limited to around what you had before (3.5GB) now you have installed a graphics card which has 1GB of memory it's taken that off the total amount you can use on the 32bit operating system.

I can't install 64bit because I have Pentium 4 HT. Is there anything else I can do?

Short of a video card with less memory on it, no.

Edit. There is one thing you can do, and would be to run with only 3 GB of ram installed. That way you would actually have more available than you do now, and it keeps it under the 4 GB limit. Not ideal, but something to think about.

I just removed 1GB and it still says 2.23GB available out of 3GB.

What are you looking at that gives you that ODD 2.23GB available? The OS is by default using a fair amount.

You disabled the on-board video in the BIOS?

I would put the other stick back in, it will use what it can and having too much is not a performance hit.

Hit CTRL+SHIFT+ESC to bring up task manager and put it on the Performance tab to see what is really in use for CPU and RAM.

Under system is says 4GB (2.23 available) and there's no way to disable integrated video card in the BIOS so I just disabled it in device manager.

OP, run Task Manager and attach a screen shot of your Performance Tab, please.

We need your system specs, this doesn't smell right, at all.
