DirectX10 graphics card in W7 causing low vid quality?

As I understand it, Win7 includes DX11, which is backward compatible with DX10 cards (which is what I have - 8600GTS). However, I began to wonder as to whether or not the new DX11 could be causing the unresolved issues with crappy video quality as compared to the same exact video being run in XP (with previous DX version, I believe it's 9).

No matter what codecs I install/uninstall, the video just looks worse in quality on Windows 7 than it does in XP. Does anything think this could possibly be a DX issue? If so, is there anything I can do about this?

Well form what I have noticed on my machine shows no difference in video on XP/Vista/Win7.
The one question I have is the poor quality you are talking about is it just video's or in games too? Also what is the player you are using? Do you have the newest Nvidia drivers, chipset/mobo and sound card drivers? All of those effect video playback and quality. So does disk defragmention, is the video run from the hard drive or over a network, usb or DVD? I know alot of question and no answer but I would like to have more information before saying just anything.

I don't game on this so I can't speak to that. I'm using WMP12 with the Shark007 Codec pack. I have the latest NVIDIA and chipset drivers as well. The video's are played straight from the hard drive and the quality is the same whether I use WMP or VLC, which is why I was wondering if it's something at a lower level. It' just bugging the crap out of me as to why video is more grainy in Win7 than in XP as no one can give me an answer.

Here is a link to another thread discussing my exact same problem with absolutely no answer to date...

If you have a Dual Core Processsor AMD and you don't have this utility installed, you will see some of these problems you have described.
