Quad SLI mean 4 physical cards, not the number of GPU chips.

Sell your cards mate. Quad won't work and it's far easier to upgrade.

Actually mate, SLI is based on number of GPU Chips, not physical cards. A Single x2 card is two GPU's and is considered SLI.

    2 physical GTX 295 cards = 4 GPU's = quad sli

OK, thanks Patrick for the good input. With your experience you know how it works. I knew the 2GPU card was a SLI config, but I didn't know if that's how boards saw it or not.

I have 2 Nvidia 295 GTX graphics cards that have 2 pcb's per card. I will be using PCI-E slots 1 and 3.

Ugh.... are those GTX 295 dual GPU cards???

If that's the case, we (I) gave the OP wrong advice

Hi many thanks , any ideas for a good upgrade. I will sell these two and get something for the same money, i.e like a 580 ?

I really wouldn't know as I don't do multi-card setups. I've also never used NVidia cards. Strictly ATI/AMD.

Anyway this is my cue to bow out and let those more familiar with multi-card setups to chime in.

    Good luck.
