    Nv 7600 GS driver problem

    Hi,

I have Win 7 pro (RTM from MSDNAA).

When I install Win 7 or Vista driver, framerate in games (CSS, WOW, SIMS3) is too low (only 40 % of FPS than in win XP) and game lags (SIMS3 too). When i instal Xp drivers (not newest) with no WDDM support, framerate is OK, but AERO is not activated and i cant activate it and my card isn't visible in Nv control panel so i can't set up TV (S-video) output.

I have tried many drivers (WHQL, beta, nonWHQL), but problem remains.

    Any solution?

    Sorry for my english

    patriot9901, welcome to the forums.

Biggest part of your problem is the unsupported Nforce3 chipset on your motherboard, and the lack of a proper AGP/GART driver. This driver is needed for any AGP card to work properly and you are stuck with whatever Window 7 comes with, as there will never be any drivers for the NF3 chipset coming from Nvidia (last XP driver was from some time in 2005). That is why your FPS in games are all slower than in XP.

Might want to have a good look around here,

and see if anyone else has had any success with that chipset and Windows 7.

    GART

    Hi,

I know there is some issue about GART.

There is NF3 driver in Win 7 RTM from Microsoft and i think it works properly.

    Microsoft listened! nForce3 support!

Because when I use in Win 7 driver for Windows XP, FPS is same as FPS on Win XP.

I have tried google if anyone have same problem, but i wasn's succesful.

The AGP driver may be present in 7 but this,

Because when I use in Win 7 driver for Windows XP, FPS is same as FPS on Win XP.
says to me that what they used was a modified XP driver more than anything else, either that or Nvidia released the driver only to Microsoft for 7.

There is NF3 driver in Win 7 RTM from Microsoft and i think it works properly.
One thing that makes me question that is that if it was, then you should be getting close to the same performance as in XP. One reason I can also see for it is the 7600 has to use the WDDM 1.0 driver model and not the newer WDDM 1.1 (one big reason ATI relegated all pre-HD 2xxx series of cards to legacy status, and just a matter of time before Nvidia does the same with all cards before the GF8 series).

    So you think that:

nforce driver used in 7 is modified Xp driver and when i use XP graphic card driver, compatibility between this two drivers is good so i have no problem with FPS

    and

when i use Win 7 graphic card driver, there is incompability between win 7 graphic card driver and nforce modified Xp driver used in Win 7 so i have low FPS.

Maybe my english is bad and so i cant explain my problem exactly.

nforce driver ------ graphic card driver------- FPS --------- other
    - from win 7 ----- win 7 driver(WDDM1) ------ low ------- everything else OK
    - from win 7------ win XP driver (no WDDM) --- OK ------AERO and nv control panel not OK

AERO is not important but NV control panel is.

    Some numbers:

GART driver: Win 7 (from Microsoft)
Graphic card driver: Win 7 (WDDM1.0)

    3Dmark 03

    Game test 1: 205 FPS
    Game test 2: 71 FPS
    Game test 3: 63 FPS
    Game test 4: 62 FPS
    Fill rate (single texturing): 1846
    Fill rate (multi texturing): 5150

    CS-S stress test: 65 FPS

There is no diference between enabled AERO and disabled AERO (Classic style)

GART driver: Win 7 (from Microsoft)
Graphic card driver: Win XP driver (no WDDM)

    3Dmark 03

    Game test 1: 305 FPS
    Game test 2: 101 FPS
    Game test 3: 87 FPS
    Game test 4: 85 FPS
    Fill rate (single texturing): 2704
    Fill rate (multi texturing): 6450

    CS-S stress test: 110 FPS

    Partially solved

My graphic card isn't able to switch core frequency between 2D and 3D mode. So i have set up in rivatuner same frequency.

    Numbers again:

    3Dmark 03

    Game test 1: 206 FPS
    Game test 2: 103 FPS
    Game test 3: 86 FPS
    Game test 4: 83 FPS
    Fill rate (single texturing): 2681
    Fill rate (multi texturing): 4676

Any idea why is Game test 1 still low and Fill rate (multi texturing) even lower?

Vertex shader test is low too.
Win 7 graphic card driver 29.3
Win XP graphic card driver 37.3
Win 7 graphic card driver with modified core frequency 28.7
