older HP (6 yrs) has video limitation

MB on my Hp only has PCI slots and I have to upgrade the OB video. The unit has a 2.6 ghz chip and 2 GB of ram and handles W7 quite well, except on the video requirements. Any suggestions other then changing out the MB. Thanks

You can only upgrade it to the highest slot you have really. So if you only have PCI slots, then you can't put anything other than a PCI card in them really.

Are you sure there's no AGP or PCI slots at all? Any of the slots shorter than another? Different colored?

Thanks for your reply. There is no AGP(hard to believe but that's HP) or any others then the old PCI slot. Can you still purchase a video card for a standard PCI slot and where they actually made?

Search eBay for PCI video cards Used & maybe even some new, better than nothing !

These are all PCI cards, cheapest to most expensive listed.

This one seems nice to me :

It's in the HD series. Can't go wrong with that.

    Or cheaper in HD series:

nVidia also makes a PCI slot board - BFG - NVIDIA GeForce 8400 GS 512MB DDR2 PCI Graphics Card - BFGR84512GSP
from BestBuy. I use it in one of my systems, got a 2.9 rating in WEI.

The HD is a much better solution for the same price. That 8400 is essentially a 43 dollar card anyhow.

The HD 2400 does get extremely hot with a passive cooler. It hits 50 C easily with a fan.
