How do I turn monitor 2 into monitor 1

    Hi,

just installed a Sapphire HD Radeon 7790 & then hooked up another big monitor (Nixeus 30 VUE) next to my Dell 3007WFP & now the 3007 is identified as Monitor 2 & the Nixeus as monitor 1. I want the 3007 as monitor # 1 but don't know how to do that. I am tempted to physically swap the monitors on my desktop but that seems Cro-magnon.

Swapping the cables no good because the Nixeus wouldn't work on the DVI cable (except during boot & in safe mode), it does work with a Display Port cable tho. Except it wants to be monitor #1?
Is there a reason it wouldn't work on the DVI port?

Sorry for the very novice questions.

Found some threads here on DisplayFusion & Ultramon, is that where I'm headed?

If you right click on the desktop and choose Screen Resolution you can Detect/Identify displays, and also drag the display image back and forth. Just click on the monitor up at the top and move it around and then have it Identify. Most of the time, that should work.

I couldn't manipulate the actual numbers assigned either, I just shuffle the screens and select the one as the MAIN with the check box, and then using drop down box on the others for Extended Desktop.

Silly card has the one not used much as #1.

I don't think it matters, that is the only place using that #ing that I have seen.

That`s it, just choose the one you want for the main monitor, check the box and apply, let us know if you fixed it.

Hooked a third monitor up to the second DVI slot just for the fun of it, three monitors very cool. & yes I have been in the Screen Resolution trying to make this right & did select the 3007 as my main display.

Can move the monitors around & position the 3007 to the far left but it is still #2, the Nixeus is #1 & the other Dell monitor is #3. So the order is 2 (3007)-1(Nixeus)-3(other Dell monitor). Want the monitor to the far left to be my main display. If I move my cursor to the right it jumps all the way to monitor 3 (as it should?), but that's far over in the corner. If I move the cursor to the left then it goes to monitor #1 in the middle.

I swapped the DVI cables & that just made the 3007 monitor #3 & the other Dell monitor #2.

Seems like there should be a way when I have the monitors in the order wanted to change the numbers? No?

Does the Display Port monitor assume it has to be number one?

You have to choose your main monitor then just put the others where you want. The mouse should move from left to right or from left to right with your main monitor in the middle, however you want it. It`s even easier to just move the monitors on your desktop to have them do what you want, sometimes that`s just what you gotta do. But shouldn`t be needed at all.

The monitors are numbered by the ports they come from, from the card, you can`t change that.

Well got no idea what I was doing wrong before - it's working now. Thought once I figured out what I was doing wrong it would make me feel silly but? Know I clicked apply several times.

Thanks for the help. I may be back. This three monitor setup is pretty cool, think I'll keep it.

Going to look for triple monitor wallpapers now.

& thanks to whoever moved this to the correct forum.

Display Fusion is what I use for multiple monitors, you can trial it for 30 days, I was hooked within 10 mins.

DisplayFusion: Multiple Monitors Made Easy! • by Binary Fortress Software

Home license for life for $35, and possible cheap software offer on their other titles, plus it works on Vista through 8.

As far as the monitors in Screen Res, personal preference, you can stack them rather then side to side even if you wanted to, if you brain works in mysterious ways, place them until thrilled on....

I just have them set like they are actually laid out in from of me....
    3 - 2 - 1
2 is main, so I just go left for 3, right for 1 if it's ever one.

& I see you can load images from deviantArt, I was just looking for a way to get that. Having three monitors has put a whole new spin on this desktop.

    thanks
