Computer Blue screens shortly afte boot. Graphics card might be cause.
It appears that my Geforce GTX 550 Ti is causing my computer to shut itself down, at least I think it is. What happens is that I boot up my PC and it gets to the desktop normally, and continues to work normally for about a minute, two if im lucky and then my screens (I have two) go black. It still has power but appears to have completely crashed, the fans still spin and the graphics card fan in particular goes into overdrive, becoming very loud.
If I reboot, I get enough time to check the action center which told me I had a power management driver problem and needed to install new drivers. I had enough time to do that between two reboots (1 for download, 1 for install) and succesfully installed new asus PSU drivers. Then the problem just kept happening as it had and action center eventually told me that my "Nvidia graphics driver has stopped working 2 times(s)". The action center was unable to find a solution and trying to download new drivers doesnt work because I get maybe halfway through downloading them before the PC shuts down again. Even if I could get the drivers from another computer I suspect it would still shut down during driver installation.
So thats where I am now. I have a computer that quickly shuts itself off making the fan on my 550 Ti go crasy. my powersupply is a fairly new (roughly 6 months old) Antec 520 whose power management drivers were just updated. I have thoroughly cleaned out the insides of my tower so it doesnt appear to be caused by dust or overheating.
I vaguely recall having a similar problem occuring when I first got my my 550 Ti that happened whenever my computer went into sleep mode, apparently it didnt like the power shift. That problem was solved by just not going into sleep mode ever.
